Oscilla Power is looking for an individual with a fundamental grasp of fluid mechanics and hydrodynamics to fill core expertise within our team in Seattle. The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate some experimental background and experience with data analysis.
Oscilla Power is developing leading-edge technology to extract energy from ocean waves. As such, a core facet of our work is related to validating our concepts and innovations through numerical and physical models of our technology. A successful hire would be expected to assist and contribute towards this end, such as developing numerical models and performing laboratory testing both in our Seattle laboratory and at sea. Our laboratory programs tend to involve significant instrumentation and data collection, and the successful hire would be comfortable with performing and coordinating test planning, configuration, and completing ongoing data collection activities.
The ideal candidate would have experience with physical or numerical modeling of wave energy converters, submersible vehicles, or surface vessels. Experience with hydrodynamic modeling software such as Orcaflex, ProteusDS, WAMIT, NEMOH would be a significant advantage. Practical hands-on experience in a laboratory/field setting would be an added advantage. The candidate should also be very comfortable with data processing/analysis/presentation and have experience with MATLAB/Python.
A Ph.D. or Master’s degree in an associated field would be preferred, although experience in the required skillset is considered more valuable.
The position will involve the expectation of working a minimum of 40 hrs/week, primarily out of OPI’s office in Seattle, WA. OPI has a competitive benefits package and a dynamic working environment. Salary and stock options will be commensurate with experience.
