Product Development Engineer

Oscilla Power is a Seattle-based company that is developing leading-edge technology to extract energy from ocean waves. We are seeking a qualified product development engineer (with a background in mechanical engineering or a related discipline) with a strong background supporting product design, development, fabrication fabrication and testing/qualification. The ideal candidate will have a strong science/engineering background or equivalent industrial experience that is applicable to a wide range of projects, and have strong hands-on skills. A positive attitude to proactively identify challenges and develop elegant, innovative engineering solutions that can significantly impact cost and performance is a must.

Expected skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline; advanced degree is preferred.

  • Five or more years of experience in a product development and/or fabrication engineer role.

  • Proven ability to take a product concept from a sketch to a realized system.

  •  Knowledge and experience with machining, inspecting, assembling, and testing of components to evaluate product design concepts.

  • Experience identifying and working with vendors to develop and identify components.

  • Demonstrated proficiency using SolidWorks, including thermal and flow simulation.

  • Strong written and oral communications skills are essential.

  • Design, fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototype devices.

  • Design and execution of experiments, data collection (LabView programming), data analyses, and reporting.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute tasks successfully and get closure in a timely manner.

  • Ability to think creatively to develop and implement ideas to solve complex problems.

  • Appreciates the benefits of a start-up company environment (i.e., enjoys small working groups and sees opportunity instead of uncertainty).

  • Is driven, self-motivated, and capable of working both independently and in support of multidisciplinary teams.

  • Has a strong work-ethic and is driven to achieve and succeed.

  • US Citizenship or permanent resident card is required.

Starting salary is commensurate with experience and fit. The company offers a full benefits package and will pay reasonable relocation costs to Seattle, WA. Sr. Technician, Fabrication and Testing

Oscilla Power is a Seattle-based company that is developing leading-edge technology to extract energy from ocean waves. We are seeking a qualified seeking a qualified technician (mechanical, or related) with a background supporting product development, fabrication and testing. The technician must be proficient in understanding engineering drawings as well as in machining, inspecting, assembling, and testing components and assemblies to evaluate design concepts.  The ideal candidate will have industrial experience that can lend itself to a wide range of projects with strong communication skills.  

An ideal candidate will have 10+ years of relevant equivalent experience in a fast-paced work environment. Previous experience with design, fabrication, assembly, and testing of prototype devices, setting up and executing experiments is highly desirable.  Leading candidates will have demonstrated the ability to execute ongoing project work successfully and have the ability to think creatively about fabrication and assembly to help the engineering team accomplish their goals in device fabrication, manufacturing and testing.

US Citizenship or permanent residency is required.
